corporate social responsibility

Mandeville believes in the importance of the community and acting as a responsible partner when bringing jobseekers and companies together. We trust our people to uphold high environmental, social and ethical standards in the course of their day-to-day business activities and actively encourage our employees to get involved in community initiatives.

Striving for employee excellence

Mandeville is a full and active member of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), the governing body of the recruitment industry, aiming to work together to raise standards and promote best practice within the recruitment industry.

We adhere to the REC Code of Good Practice that was created to ensure that members conduct their business ethically and to the highest standards. All of Mandeville's directors and many of its consultants are also individual members of the REC.

Mandevilles partnership with the REC and quality of training has led to us enjoying special status within the industry. We are one of just 30 recruitment companies in the UK accredited to train consultants in house for the Certificate in Recruitment Practice, due to the quality of our in-house training support. This gives all of our consultants the chance to study towards a degree in Recruitment or an MA via the REC schemes.

Mandeville have been awarded the Investors in People accreditation in 2009, having begun the process towards accreditation in summer 2008.  This accreditation shows the various initiatives we run and our commitment to providing an excellent and supporting environment for all our employees.

Equal Opportunities

We actively welcome applications from all age groups and sectors of the community. We recognise that employees would rather work for an ethical and reputable company and we therefore strive to deliver socially inclusive staffing policies. Mandeville seeks to employ a workforce that reflects the diverse community at large, because we value the individual contribution of people.

Promoting equality of opportunity means that everyone is treated solely on the basis of competence and merit, regardless of gender, parental or marital status, ethnic or national origin, race, age, religion, sexual orientation, disability or any other criteria not specifically related to potential skills and abilities. This philosophy extends to our own staff and the manner in which they approach our potential candidates.

Charity and Community Focus

As well as our commitment to employers, job seekers and our own staff, we embrace our responsibility to the wider community within which we operate. This takes many forms from work in local schools, annual awards presented to outstanding students at Thames Valley, Manchester Metropolitan and Oxford Brookes Universities and the various sponsorship and fundraising efforts that we undertake for our Charity of the Year, Thames HospiceCare.

We are also the founder of the Thames Valley Max the Cash scheme, which combines our community education and charity focus. Local teams in schools are supported by Mandeville to create their own entrepreneurial business to raise as much cash for charity as possible in an 8 week period. Mandeville provide both the initial £100 investment for each team, and a team of business mentors from their management team to aid in business development. This pilot scheme may be rolled out for other UK regional offices following its success this year in raising funds for charity and furthering entrepreneurial skills in students.

Caring for the wider environment

Mandeville Recruitment is a provider of services rather than products. However, during the conduct of our operations we make use of a range of natural and man-made resources. Mandeville appreciates the environmental benefits of reducing the consumption of these resources and encourages our staff to seek alternative options and make use of recycling initiatives wherever they may be practical. Environmentally friendly initiatives are also encouraged in the use of low energy lighting, insulation of offices and in the type of vehicles available in our company car fleet.

We discourage our offices from providing temporary, contract or permanent personnel to those businesses whose conduct is unnecessarily harmful to the environment or society as a whole. Employees conduct business with a strong sense of corporate responsibility and to the highest possible standards.
